I’ll admit it. I hate change. Not an easy statement to own, considering my job is to embrace and propagate the evolution and revolution of fashion every season, but it’s the honest truth. The toughest change of all? The onset of fall. Summer days shrink rapidly, giving way to cooler mornings and evenings, the treetops moving from green to yellow to gone – all in the blink of an eye. And then…winter. As a native Minnesotan, married to a Minnesota devotee (meaning – we.will.never.leave.) a girl has to employ some serious coping mechanisms to make seasonal transitions a smidge easier. The best trick I have up my sleeve? Refreshing my wardrobe with pieces I will wear on repeat, one hundred different ways, that make getting out the door as easy as 1 -2 – 3.

Working Mama
If I am going to get my bum up every morning at 5:30 to squeeze in a run, shower and feed, dress and deploy the troops to three different schools (yes – three kids, three different schools – it’s going to be an awesome year), the incentive of no – brainer pieces that I can throw on and feel like a million bucks is serious incentive to shop now. My go – to’s? The foundation piece of my fall wardrobe is a great pair of denim and AG’s clean dark wash denim is my top choice because it never bags out thanks to incredible stretch and recovery. I then love to layer in a waist creating moto jacket that brings out my inner Sandy and turns even the most basic outfit up a notch (hello white tee, I am talking to you) , and Level 99 sateen cargos that feels like pjs, but look like the coolest (and most tailored) pant out there.

Weekend Round – Up
Envision this. It’s 2pm on Saturday. You’ve run up and down the stairs 20 times, gone to hockey practice, the grocery store, returned leftover party supplies at Target and you walk in your front door and catch a glimpse of your reflection in the mirror and realize this is actually the first time you have looked at yourself since the wee hours of the morning. And it’s a little rough. We’ve all been there but creating a simple weekend uniform will take you to togetherville fast – minimal effort required. I start with a pair of Spanx leggings – comfy, easy and crazy flattering. Next – I layer on a tunic length top. I love a great plaid button down to usher in fall (try it alone or open as a jacket stand – in), and a comfortable tee in a luscious fabric from Michael Stars is a new closet staple (it comes in multiple colors – do yourself a favor and just invest in them all). Finally, cool kicks. Throw it all on with a pair with sunnies and a pony – who is that mom who’s got it together? All signs point to you!

That Little Extra
I call this the secret sauce of a wardrobe. The fun, unexpected elements that make getting dressed fun and help me feel like a power player, no matter the situation. Lunch with friends? I’ll throw this on. Million things to accomplish today? These are my pieces. Checking out the new hot spot with my hubs? Perfect look. This season I want my favorites to play as well together as they do on their own, so I set my standards high for versatility. I am all about autumnal color for fall, and this free people bralette does double duty, appealing to my feminine side and adding in a rich copper pop to my typically neutral heavy wardrobe. Always a sucker for a good graphic, this tank from Chaser nails it (the armholes are a little more open, making it the perfect partner with the bralette), and is a subtle reminder to take it all in stride. A ruana is a perfect transitional layer, killer cute now styled as is, but perfect over a long sleeve (or even lightweight sweater or hoodie) when the weather starts to turn. Slide on the most ingeniously designed clog from Kork Ease (the height gives you legs for days, but the cushion lets you walk for miles) and my work here is done.

It would be so helpful if you could compile a spotlight of nursing friendly styles for fall! I love your posts, but often the tops and dresses are impossible for me to purchase!
