It’s that time of year—fall activities are well underway and the holiday season is just around the corner. Simply put, life is busy! So if you’re short on time to pull together great looks, consider one of our favorite styling tricks: monochromatic outfits. Keeping pieces within the same color scheme allows for quick mixing and matching and it doesn’t get easier than a palette of classic black and white. Below, five of our favorite black and white outfit ideas for a variety of occasions styled by our pros.

What Makes an Outfit Monochromatic?

Monochrome clothing means you are dressing head to toe in the same color. However, this doesn’t mean the clothing pieces have to be the exact tone or shade (unless that’s what you’re into!). For example, you can pair different shades of gray to create a stunning monochromatic look, or pair a light pink tank with some hot pink pants. The way you style your monochrome is up to you! Here are some of our favorite ideas:

For The Weekend: A Great Shacket + Black Leggings

If your weekend attire revolves around leggings (we so relate!), consider investing in a great shacket that will elevate the casual look while providing some extra warmth this time of year requires. This gorgeous black and cream version from Z Supply lends a soft, cozy texture and is stunning when paired with all black or a cream top, as pictured here. A comfortable pair of boots, such as these exclusive Sorels, completes the casual-chic look that seamlessly goes from coffee to last minute cocktails.

For A Girl’s Lunch: Relaxed Plaid Tunic + Vegan Leather Leggings

A relaxed plaid button-down is a wardrobe staple (so versatile!) and this black and white version is perfect with denim or legging alike. Our pick? Vegan leather leggings that are super chic and super comfy. Finish with cozy sherpa boots and you’ve got an ensemble you’ll keep going back to all season long.

For Date Night: A Sexy Black Top + Black Denim

Black on black is a foolproof night out formula and this cool look lends just the right amount of edge while also being so, so easy. The secret? That cut out top (hello, collarbone!) paired with flattering, high-waisted black denim. Toss on your favorite black boot or heel and you’ll be out the door in minutes (and feeling like a million bucks).

For Casual Friday: Camo Pants + Cream Top

Ok, the camo may technically not be black but the dark grey hues in these pants are pretty close. With it’s super-flattering and comfortable fit, the Kut Reese pant is an EVEREVE best-seller, and this Michael Stars top has fun statement sleeves that give it a little something extra, while still feeling like a cozy sweatshirt. Who said workwear had to be boring?
