The Ultimate Power Playlist

The Ultimate Power Playlist

We believe music has power. Power to uplift. Power to motivate. Power to encourage. Music has played an important role in the journey of Evereve, and it continues to inspire our employee family and influence our development as a brand. We want to share that power with you, so we pulled together a playlist that helps us feel capable of things we never thought possible and keep pushing forward when it’s hard. We hope you find some of your own power in the playlist—to take the big plunge or simply think positively in a tough moment.

Our passion for music started with Megan, our co-founder and co-CEO, who found the courage to start Evereve through music. We can’t wait to share the story later this month of how a particular night in a New York City theatre inspired her to take the leap and launch a fashion brand. Music continues to be a significant force in Megan’s life today, at home and at work—in the early days of Evereve, she blasted The Lion King soundtrack in her car to get psyched up for a day of styling in the store. And today, Megan uses music to help ground and calm herself before board meetings and big presentations. Megan feels called to help other women find ways to tap into the inspirational power of music, so we asked her to share some tips for making space in your life and your home for music.

  1. Make the time. Carve out time to put on earphones and listen to music. Early morning, late at night or even better—when no one is home so you can start dancing!
  2. On the road. Road trips are the perfect time to pump it up. Make an excuse to go the extra mile or take a solo road trip.
  3. Up, up and away. Since I fly a lot for work, I dedicate most of my travel time to listening to music. We are so over-scheduled that it’s easy to use these moments of down time to get things done, but I encourage you to put the work away, sit back, relax and listen to the music.
  4. Make it family-friendly. Find some tunes that everyone in the family likes and fill your home with music. Start a dance party in the kitchen, begin a sing-a-long in the car, sing to your kids before bed each night. Make music a family affair.
  5. See a concert. Go see live music. If you can’t find someone to go with you, be BRAVE and go by yourself.
  6. Find your favorite. Everyone has different musical tastes. When it comes to music, don’t try to play the cool card—just find music that makes you feel alive and own it.
  7. Explore something new. While we all have our favorites, it never hurts to step outside the box and expose yourself to a genre or style you might not usually listen to.
  8. Teach them young. Expose your kids to lots of different kinds of music. Take your kids to musicals, the symphony and concerts. Help them develop an appreciation for music while they are young—it will be a gift that stays with them the rest of their lives.
